You can print a novel from pixiv into book format directly through pixivFACTORY. (Check here for details on how to submit a novel for printing.)
There are different types of paper to choose from when ordering a book through pixivFACTORY.
The default paper used for the cover is "Art Post" (アートポスト). This is the most basic and standard type of cover paper.
For the body pages, we recommend using "Pale Cream Kinmari" (淡クリームキンマリ) rather than default paper.
The thickness and processing of the cover paper can change the feeling of the book, so please refer to the descriptions below to help you choose which is best for your book.
Book cover paper types
We recommend choosing "Art post" for a standard book. If you want your book cover to have a more unique feel to it, try choosing one of the other options.
- Art Post 180kg (アートポスト 180kg): Glossy cover paper. If you're unsure what to choose, we recommend this paper with PP processing.
- Espirit Embossed Arare 180 kg (エスプリエンボス アラレ 180kg): Glossy cover paper with an "Arare" snowflake-like texture to it.
- Espirit Embossed Gift Line 180kg (エスプリエンボス ギフトライン 180kg): Glossy cover paper with a diagonal stripe texture.
- Espirit Embossed Momen 180kg (エスプリエンボス モメン 180kg): Glossy cover paper with an embossed cloth-like texture.
- Mermaid Snow White 153kg (マーメイド スノーホワイト 153kg): Cover paper embossed with a rough and voluminous texture
Cover processing
Applying PP (polypropylene) processing protects the cover and can help it last longer.
No processing (加工なし): Do not apply any processing, and leave the characteristics of the paper as-is.
Clear PP (クリアPP): Creates a glossy and shiny finish.
Matte PP (マットPP): Creates a non-glossy matte finish that is smooth to the touch.
Body paper
The higher the number value, the thicker each page will be.
We recommend choosing thicker for books with fewer pages (under 40), and thinner for books with more pages (over 42 pages). Lighter pages are easier to turn and reduce the overall weight of the book.
In general, whiter paper can tire the eyes out more easily, so we recommend choosing "Pale Cream Kinmari" for the body of novels.
- High grade paper 70kg (上質紙 70kg): Basic white paper.
- High grade paper 90kg (上質紙 90kg): Basic white paper.
- Pale Cream Kinmari 90kg (淡クリームキンマリ 90kg): An off-white/cream-colored paper. Recommended for novels.
- Coat 110kg (コート 110kg): Glossy and shiny paper. Not recommended for novels.
- Matte Coat 110kg (マットコート 110kg): Smoother feeling than Coat paper. Not recommended for novels.
- Pale Cream Kinmari 72.5kg (淡クリームキンマリ 72.5kg): An off-white/cream-colored paper. Its thickness makes it easy to turn the pages. Recommended for novels.
- Monte Lukia 81.5kg (モンテルキア 81.5kg): A slightly rough-textured and soft paper.
